5live perform at Lawford Primary School! Friday 14th July 2017
5live is a project to introduce primary school children to traditional woodwind instruments through a 45 minute concert (involving a range of music from different genres) by a professional wind quintet, followed by an instrument zoo – this is where the children will get a few minutes to try every instrument and this aspect is done in classes.
The members of 5live are a group of friends who are all experienced musicians, teachers and performers. They are passionate about every child’s right to have the opportunity to hear professional musicians and to have the opportunity to learn an instrument.
The whole school watched the band in assembly and were captivated by the concert. They enjoyed the interaction and KS2 were lucky to follow this up with workshops where they got to play a range of instruments. Thank you 5live!
'It was a pleasure to visit Lawford , all the children were a credit to your school.' Andy
Lawford Young Voices Choir performed for the 6th time at London's O2 arena. They supported Natalie Williams who is a soul/jazz artist, singer-songwriter and who has released 7 critically acclaimed albums. They also performed along with 'The Beatbox Collective' who are always a favourite. And they also got to support Tabby Callaghan from the X Factor! The children were amazing as ever and a great time was had by all.
Sing Up Suffolk at Royal Hospital School (RHS)
On Monday 14th November, Years 5 and 6 attended the Sing Up Suffolk event, where the children used their voice to generate different sounds in their groups in order to perform a variety of compositions. The children then put on a performance at the end of the day to parents watching on the balcony overhead.
Our annual summer concerts, for children who learn a musical instrument or sing in one of our choirs, once again took place in front of family and friends of those involved.
