Closure of Educational settings guidance for parentsUpdated June 3rd 2020 key changes are: The Actions for schools during the COVID19 outbreak guidance has been updated to reflect the decision to move forwards with re-opening schools from 1st June. The DFE guidance for parents and carers has been updated with information on the curriculum, afterschool activities, repeating a year for pupils, transport and keeping children safe online. It also includes updated information for parents of children with special education needs. I draw your attention to the following specific additions: i. parents cannot send children to alternative out of school clubs or activities but eligible children can access on-site school breakfast/afterschool clubs at the school they are attending only. ii. it is not expected that any children would need to repeat a school year due to COVID19 but, it remains possible for headteachers to agree this in individual cases if they think it is appropriate. iii. Parents, children and young people are encouraged to refer to the safer travel guidance for passengers. The guidance around providing apprenticeships has been updated with information on which apprentices should be prioritised in the offer of face-to-face training from 15th June, and details of the flexibility that enables apprentices to take end-point assessment ahead of receiving their calculated functional skills qualification results.
