Art
Intent
By combining substantive knowledge and implicit skills, our art curriculum helps ensure that every pupil feel entitled to embrace their own creativity as something which is important to them, and something which is valued by society.
Through annotations, evaluations and artist research, the children are taught and encouraged to respect and appreciate everyone's unique style in class, school and wider community.
Implementation
We are guided by the AccessArt Primary Curriculum to provide a balanced yet rich offering, with progression of knowledge and skills woven throughout, whilst giving non-specialist staff the support they need to feel confident and happy teaching art. Work is recorded in their sketchbooks and are encouraged to experiment with techniques and their own pieces of art as a continuous 'work in progress.'
